Diamond Previews Adult June 2009

Before we look at the newest Previews Adult, two quick points in the aftermath of the Handley case… if you’re more reticient to purchase adult comics – be it ero or yaoi – by mail, don’t be.  The US Postal Service does not open inter-state mail without cause, and looking for porn is not one of them.  If you are buying legitimate product from a legitimate US-based retailer, your privacy is safe.  Or, I should say, it’s still the same as before the Handley case.

Second, don’t be afraid to exercise your rights and participate in the fandom.  The more we fear, the more our hobby becomes trivialized, and the easier it becomes to bully us and strip us of our rights.  We are law-abiding citizens who happen to enjoy drawings on paper, and no one can force us to live in the shadows for that.

The following is a list of adult manga and manga-oriented titles, extracted from the newest issue of Previews Adult PDF catalog.

Books are generally released two months after the Previews issue in which they are solicited.  Artist homepages are painfully searched for and linked (why don’t all manga publishers link to artist sites?  They’re much better at selling me on a book than another boring PR.)

The reason I cover not only our own books, but those from other adult manga publishers as well, is because adult manga generally have a harder time finding their way into retail, and the wide variety of adult manga may lead some comic shops to overlook items they actually might be able to sell.  One of the best ways to support adult manga of all kinds is to pre-order these books, and show there is a demand for them.

Good news!  No price hikes!  (Granted, those happened last year…)

This may be self-serving, but I’m going to say it… without us, Previews Adult would be boring.  There just isn’t much in the way of new pr0n comics, and no new publishers in a very long time.  Even yaoi is merely holding steady.

The most exciting item in the whole catalogue (besides Cheerful Eros Project, of course) is a bare-breasted Ikki Tousen figure with a $139.99 price tag… it only has to sell 45 units to meet Diamond’s minimum.  Craaazy.
