Spotted first on Rocket Bomber… Borders has partnered with Canadian ebook seller Kobo, and will be integrating Kobo’s website with its own. Kobo is platform-agnostic, providing ebooks that will run on a variety of devices, which will soon include BN’s nook (not too surprising, since nook was always designed to be more service-agnostic, at least when compared to Amazon’s Kindle.) Kobo is also planning its own ebook reader, which will likely be sold at Borders stores, although the bookseller is not involved with the design of the device. The NYTimes blog has additional details.

Spotted via Journalista… Mediabistro summarizes a presentation by President of Sony Digital Reading Steve Haber on selling e-books, including this gem of a quote:
“Put yourself in the place of someone who wants to attack your business and what would they do to take over your business,” he said. “And then think about that, and say, OK, if that’s what they’d do to take over my business, then I should do that myself.”
I spent this entire morning asking myself that question, thinking of what my “competitors” are doing in the online world that I could adopt. And every answer I came up with involved fucking over the artist.

Now that Playstation Comics has launched, I wonder if I could include it as a legitimate business expense on my taxes.
A lot of Disney comics are available on the service right now, but there’s not a single manga title to be found…

At least someone outside of manga is paying attention to the Handley story.

Suddenly, I have a craving for an Extasy-laced Big Mac.

Egypt Today has a few excerpts from a lecture by Go Nagai, given at the Cairo Opera House in Egypt as part of a tour of the Middle East. Not surprisingly, most of the questions centered on mainstream mecha works Mazinger and Grendizer, instead of Kekko Kamen or Devilman Lady…

And to think that the Handley case is moving along like a snail….
Kinda wonder how much longer this will be dragged out… I know that there is no dates set beyond the January sentencing but its impossible that will take place then due to fun paperwork stuff in my eyes.
And to think… everything that I’ve seen and read screams like the prosecution is taking down a huge child sex predator…. go US justice system, go!
