Graphic novels return on Amazon | Viz Anime launches | Yaoi creator Aya Fujii releases dual-language Kindle manga

The great Amazon delisting of DBD books of 2010 appears to be over.  Almost all of the Marvel books are available again (and the few that aren’t may actually be sold out). A quick check for a few other publishers also show their buy buttons restored.

The take-down happened sometime between the 8th and 9th, so that means the problem took exactly one week to fix.  Not terrible, all things considered.

Mangaka Aya Fujii, who is among the first to create manga specifically for the Kindle, has released the English-language edition of Peach Boy MOMO & MIKAN.  In fact, the new release now contains both English and Japanese editions.

Check it out, whether you are a BL fan, or just curious as to what a properly formatted manga should look like on the Kindle.  (Thanks for the heads up, Ms. Aya Fujii)

Free online anime portal Viz Anime has officially launched.  The videos are hosted on Hulu.  The site boasts 12 series, including 167 episodes of the original Inu Yasha anime.

With subtitles.

Excellent.

For those following the proposed loli ban in Tokyo, Danny Choo has some additional details, while Sankaku Complex has translated some choice quotes from mangaka Tetsuya Chiba and Go Nagai which I agree with wholeheartedly.  Art is built on what came before, so all art is interconnected.  Think of the many professional mangaka who began their careers first in ero or BL manga… would they be where they are otherwise?

Manga Xanadu celebrates Women’s History Month by looking at the works and influence of 6 female mangaka.  Coincidentally, March is also Manga Month for Diamond, isn’t it?

Spotted on CWR… comicker Tyler Page relates his experiences in self-publishing, and the growing advantages of print-on-demand post Diamond’s latest minimum change (part 1, 2).  Even with advances in POD, self-publishing is hard as hell.  And even though webcomics may be the best self-publishing option for most comic creators, there’s still nothing more satisfying than seeing your work in print.  I can definitely sympathize with that urge to put yourself into massive debt for life.
