A couple of news stories at Anime News Network that should entertain the Law and Order fans… police in Poland have arrested 6 individuals for providing translations of foreign films. (it’s true… merely providing a translation of copyrighted work without permission is illegal under US copyright law as well.)
The story more relevant to our interests takes place in Japan, where police arrested 3 males, one of whom is only 17 years old, for uploading manga before they even became available for sale.
What’s interesting here is, given the amount of time it would take to scan a magazine the size of Weekly Shounen Jump, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is an “inside job”, and the police may yet uncover involvement of individuals higher up in the distribution and production process. Just my hunch.

All this recent talk over sexism and magazines, and no one mentions Comic AG, the 80-paged porn comic that retails for $4.99? Tsk, tsk. This is obviously a conspiracy being lead against us by the elitist bloggers, retailers, and of course, the Spanish Inquisition!
Comic AG 58 is shipping this upcoming Wednesday, and you can expect the next issue to follow shortly. Until then, enjoy some preview pics:
Yeah, it’s another slow day…

SJ are usually send out to store days before it’s supposed to be on sale on monday, and some stores starts selling before they’re supposed to, so it may not be insiders. Usually if you visit Kinokuniya or something, you get Japanese Shounen Jump a week ahead (I think Kino has SJ every tuesday before the monday it’s on sale in Japan), because they ship out the oversea copies 2 weeks early. So again, anyone who knows where to get a copy at the right store can do it.
